One shots
Sometimes a magazine of rather broad appeals gathers enough material on one of its areas of interest to put a special issue apart from the regular issues. This special publication may gather together material that has already appeared in the magazine, or it may present a new material. We call the publication one-shot, even though it may catch on and become, say annual publication.

Direct-mail pieces
Direct-mail pieces are produced by every conceivable kind of company or organization to do a public relations or selling job, and they appear only once; then they are forgotten. They are meant to be given a way. Direct-mail can be distributed via mail, door to door or counters. Another term for these pieces is direct advertising or direct marketing.

Folders
The folders are probably the most common from a direct mail. A single cut sheet, it can be folded once, twice, three times, or more, or after printing; and several kinds of folds can be used.

Catalogs
Catalogs come from all kinds of retailers, including those dealing in exotic and expensive merchandise.

Calendars
Calendars tap every conceivable of interest. Cat lovers, cook, feminist, body admirers, humor buffs, word fancies, philosophers, environmentalist, God-fearing people – all have their calendars.

Annual reports
People read annual reports to find out about companies they have invested in or want to invest in, to check them out as places to work, to see whether they are good credit risks as buyers of services, parts, and supplies.

Company magazines
Company magazines are omnipresent, and they appear in every format imaginable.

Association publications
There are lot of association exists to promote the interests of industrial, professional, educational, charitable, religious, social, and other groups; and almost all of them involved in publishing activities. They produce magazines, newsletters, directories, manuals, annual reports, and direct –mail pieces of all descriptions.

Newsletter
Large organizations as well small offices put out newsletters. Some newsletters do a public relation job for their publishers, or they propagandize; they go out without cost to the readers.

Yearbooks
Yearbooks fall somewhere in between magazines and books. Because they are permanently bound and because they serve both historical and reference purposes, they have many qualities of a book.
